Peretz: A negotiation will not be carried out over the media

Israeli Security Minister, Amir Peretz, addressed the issue of the two Israeli soldiers held by Hezbollah. The two were kidnapped in a surprise attack by Hezbollah on 12th of July in what prompted the war between Israel and Hezbollah last summer.
Peretz responded to questions revolving around the condition of the two soldiers and the efforts made in order to bring about their release. Peretz claimed that confidentiality must be maintained in order to secure the best result. The release of the two soldiers was one of the objectives of the war which many in Israel perceive as a failure. Peretz claimed that the utmost effort is being made to secure the release of the two soldiers.
Peretz also addressed the statements made by new American Secretary of Defense, Bob Gates, in which the latter stated that there is a possibility that Israel will be attacked by a nuclear Iran but there is only a small likelihood of an American attack on Iran. Peretz said that every statement will be studied.
